I have a dark spot on my right shin that looks like a bruise, but I m sure it isn t. There is also dry skin on top of the area. About a week ago the affected area was more of a red color and it was itchy, warm to the touch, and a little swollen. There also was some mild pain. I told my parents that I should go to the doctor, but they said it would be a waste of money for just a bruise . Have you ever heard of anything like this?
Hi. I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. By the history provided the most likely diagnosis seems to be post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. That is the previous skin condition has healed with skin darkening. Assuming this to be the condition if I were your treating dermatologist I would have given you a skin lightening agent such as kojic acid cream for a month and requested for a follow up. At present considering the history it doesn't seem to be anything to be concerned about but a consultaion with your dermatologist would be prudent. I hope I was able to answer your query. Kindly feel free to ask if there are anymore further questions. Thank you.
