Suggest Treatment For A Foul Smelling Bump On The C-section Scar

I had a c section 4 years ago. Last night I noticed it was very itchy. Scratched and noticed blood on my fingers. Took a look at it. It s was indeed bleeding and noticed a bump on the scar. Today it has been very wet and now it has a bad smell. What can I do to keep it dry. And do I need to contact my doctor.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can. It sounds to me like wound infections or so called Schloffer tumors which are inflammatory response to sutures
or scarf after previous surgery. You need to see a surgeon and have this wound drained. Also antibiotics may be required if resistant bacteria is causing this.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein
