Suggest Treatment For A Painful Bump On The Foot

I hit the top of my foot today on a piece of metal ( about an inch and a half from my ankle towards the outside of the foot). There is a bump the size of a half dollar, not really any swelling around it, no bruise but having a lot of pain. Took two Tylenol with little relief, keeping it elevated and icing. Any other suggestions or comments would be helpful. Not sure what else I can do. Thank you.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
From description it seems to be soft tissue injury . Bump might be due to haematomaformation(collection of blood).
You need an x-ray to rule out any bony injury.
I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance.
Beside icing and elevating it, you can take anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more concern.
Warm Regards.
