Understanding your concern. As per your query painful lump on the ear is mostly due to unripe Boil or the infection of the ear lobe. It could be enlarged lymph nodes , lymph nodes respond to infection/inflammation and eustachian tube salpingitis with throat infection. i would suggest you to do gargles with Listerine antiseptic mouth wash. Take a course of penicillin antibiotics + anti inflammatory medicines like paracetamol + diclofenac combination drugs for 3 to 5 days. Visit ENT specialist if symptoms keeps on persisting. Go for surgical excision if it is not treatable medicinally.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
