Suggest Treatment For A Painless Spot On The Lip

I am a 58 yr old white female with a long standing history of Systemic Lupus, Alopecia Universalis, Hypothyroidism, Raynaudâ??s, Sjogrenâ??s, mild Peripheral Neuropathy, Osteoarthritis with both knees and right hip replaced. I take generics of Plaquenil, Cellcept, Mobic, Levothyroxin, Neurontin, Hydrochlorothiazide, Fosamax, Folic Acid, Iron, and Trazadone for sleep, other vitamins and minerals. I have taken prednisone often over the years but off since January 2010.

Towards the end of April I noticed a painless spot on my lip smaller than a pencil eraser. This stayed small as I asked my dentist and rheumatologist, then it became aggressive in growing and would bleed easily. I saw my family dr when I had it a month. He thought it a precancerous lesion. I went to a dermatologist who excised it. The pathology report said it wasnâ??t cancer but a vascular granulose tissue that they donâ??t know what caused it. Four days after the stitch removal, June 15th, I went back to the dermatologist as another spot was developing at the edge of the excision site. He referred me to a Plastic Surgeon that I canâ??t get into until July 9. This spot is aggressively growing, too, and involves from the mucus membrane at the back of my lip into the skin at the front of my lip. This week I noticed another small spot started near the excision site and it looks like a spot is breaking thru the middle of the excision site. I have been using Carmex (a camphor and menthol salve) to help with the pain along the skin of my lip were it crusts up and bleed more. The rest of the sore gets a film on it that comes off easily.

Have you ever heard of something like this and what could be causing it? My health is stable and nothing unusual is going on in my life.

Thank you, Kathy
