Suggest Treatment For A Pet Cat Bite On The Groin Area
To which ever doctor reads this. I would acquire some information or help regarding my concerns. I recently adopted a new cat from an animal shelter, which was previously a stray. It will be getting vaccines next week but currently has none, which has become a concern to me as I sleep naked for comfort. I was woken up last night to my newly adopted pet biting my groin. Since, my knob has become extremely swollen. What advice could you recommend?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your case history of bite on groin, my treatment advice is:
1. Maintain good hygiene and bath twice daily.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like Fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like Levocetirizine twice daily for 7 to 10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like Levofloxacin and Azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
