Suggest Treatment For A Pus Filled Bump On The Leg

My Mom has a bump on her leg that we thought had pus in it, but today we tried to pop it and it s hardened. It only bled a little bit. It has a mark in the center. It doesn t hurt, but doesn t look good. Should we head into urgent care and have it looked at right away?

My Dear

Welcome to Healthcaremagic!

It seems that your mom has deep seated folliculitis which is bacterial infection and results in boils later on.

She would be better placed if she took antibiotics and applied antiseptic cream on the lesion. It should not be given hot fomentation or handled vigorously as bacteria from the infective site can get dislodged and set up another infection. make sure that she is not a diabetic and reassure her that urgency is not involved and she should be well soon. for pain, she might like to have some analgesic.

Best wishes
