Ideally you should have consulted a doctor who may have asked you to use an OTC topical antibacterial for it. That is what exactly needs to be done even now as well. If need be your doctor may also prescribe you a course of an oral antibiotic along with topical antibacterial ointment twice daily. If I was the treating doctor, my choice of empirical oral antibiotics would have been either flucloxacillin or cephalexin.
