Suggest Treatment For A Small Red Bump On The Areola
Hi there, Yesterday I noticed some soreness around my right nipple. It wasn t until this morning that I examined the area and realized I have a small red bump on my aerola. It s very painful to touch. It s right at the base of my nipple. The pain radiates through the whole area when touched. I ve had 3 kids, one just 4 months ago but I don t breast feed. Is this probably just something that will go away or could it need medical attention?
Hi. I went through your question and understand your concern. Going by the history provided, it is pointing towards furrunculosis (which is bacterial infection of hair follicle) or insect bite reaction. The former presents as such a red bump and then develops into a pustule. Both are relatively minor conditions and nothing to worry about. But consultation with a dermatologist would be prudent for the accurate diagnosis because examining the bump is of paramount importance. I hope I was able to put your query at rest. Kindly feel free to ask any doubts if there are any. Regards
