Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
When my daughter was born, one of her feet was swollen. The doctors said it was probably due to the umbillical cord wrapped around her ankel while I was still pregnant with her. I was also told it could just be fatty deposits in her foot. Regardless, I was reassured the swelling would go away once she started to walk. My daughter is almost 15 months and has been walking for about 4 months and running for one of those months. The swelling is still the same, no worse, no better. Any idea what this could be?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
You have waited long enough. It is important to find out what is causing the swelling. Methods to learn this are imaging studies(ultrasound, MRI, CT), excision (where all of the tissue is removed), or biopsy. Talk this over with your daughter's pediatrician. My opinion is that a pediatric radiologist and a pediatric surgeon ought to be involved. I hope this helps points you in the correct direction.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
