Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Pain After Eating Food

My stomach is not digesting food. I have eaten very small amounts of food for one week and it sits in my stomach for 14 or 15 hours before it enters my intestines. Once it enters intestines there is some pain. I have in the past had a leiomysarcoma 20 years ago in my left lhigh. I was lucky to have lived. Wondering if my pancreas might be blocking and possible sarcoma? What test should i have?

Hello and welcome,

Your symptoms are highly suggestive of gastric outlet obstruction. It can be caused by any disease (pyloric stenosis, infections, polyps, malignancy) that mechanically impedes emptying of the stomach. Yes, pancreatic cysts or malignancy may also block the stomach outlet.
To diagnose gastric outlet obstruction you should have upper gastrointestinal studies with contrast (barium), and to find out the cause of the obstruction you might be ordered upper endoscopy (gastroscopy) with biopsy, CT scanning along with blood tests. Your doctor may order additional tests according to the previously obtained test results.

I hope the above information will be helpful for you. Please, feel free to ask me if there is anything else you need to know.

Thank you,
Malik Amonov MD
