Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Pain And Loose Stools

I just returned from a 2-week trip to the Philippines. I was very careful and only drank service water or filtered water. But something I ate caused diarrhea. I ve had it for a week now. Symptoms are abdominal pains (not bad now, but were very bad at first), several loose stools a day, and weakness (don t know if it s still jet lag or from the diarrhea). I thought it was better and just ate a regular small meal, and it started again. Should I take Imodium or go to the doctor? Could it be dangerous? I am in very good health, but 69 years old. Thank you for your answer. Lauri

Thank you for posting your query.

its most likely "Traveler's diarrhea".
as it has diarrhea did not resolve yet, its better to visit your treating physician and get some tests done to rule out any severe bacterial infection which may need a antimicrobial therapy.
meanwhile, keep your self hydrated by taking Oral Rehydration Solution.

if any further questions, feel free to ask.
