Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Pain And Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
1 am a 30 year old woman and i have polycystic ovaries. I currently weigh 99kgs and have been trying to loose weight for months. I approached my doctor for help and he has placed me on duramine and ordered blood test and my liver function has been flagged. Upon hearing this he said that my last 3 blood tests also flagged and this was the 1st i heard it. My doctor performed ultrasounds and tested my glucose levels and said nothing looked abnormal. I also have trouble holding bowel movements and they can sometimes be foul smelling and have a slight yellow tinge to them. I constantly have abdominal pain especially when i am ovulating and menstruating my cycle. My doctor has said to leave it for a bit and test in a few months and see if anything changes. Should i seek a second opinion?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, I understand your concern. I would advise you to get reassessment of your menstrual health by an expert advise.. as rhe information given is confusing ( on one side you say you have PCOD & other way your doctor does not find any abnormality in USG) At your age, confirmation of diagnosis usually follows treatment on 3 fronts. - To start Metformine pills along with low calorie diet & exercises .. to reduce weight. - To stimulate ovulation & reduce ovarian mass with medicines like Clomiphene, Inj. pubergen ( as per need ) - Psychological counseling - If no response in 6 months Laproscopic surgery of drilling ovaries is done. - Pain you have might come from 1)bowel infection- it needs investigations & specific treatment.2) Pain due to stretching of ovaries.. can be controlled by anti inflammatory drugs. No fomentation or massaging please. Thanks.
