Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Pain, nausea And Vomiting

My daugter who is 14 yrs old is suffering from low grade fever since 1month 20 days. Initially she was diagoned of enteric fever, the symtoms were of gastritis -mild fever with nausea, vomiting and back pain . she was given ciplox, norflox, sartoryl but still her situation did not improve.later she was tested for typhoid and found possitive in one of the test. So, She was given oflox in a high dose for a week. Still her problem has not improved.Gasteroenterologist feels that becoz of heavy medication and antibiotics which she has taken, her stomach lining is inflamated. She still has abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, body pain especially back pain. All her blood test are normal ultrasound is normal.( Ultrasound did so bowel loops ) Now doctors are suspecting IBS/IBD she was advised for CT scan to rule out IBD which has come normal. So doctors are now suspecting IBS and given her Normaxin RT Please advice if the course of treatment is now fine

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
Surely the course of treatment will be fine as all the Doctors including the Specialist must have give a proper thought and the patient has already been given Oflox, Ciplox and so on, continue with Normaxin RT.
Since CT scan is normal, the organic causes like abscess or appendicitis, diverticulitis and liver abscess have been ruled out.
It is possible that these medicine have not helped much due to resistance; hence I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Get the blood culture and sensitivity as she still has fever.
Think about there causes such as thyrotoxicosis, tuberculosis and such causes, discuss with your Doctor and get investigated and treated accordingly.
Take second opinion.
If all the investigations are normal IBD or IBS can be treated accordingly.
A course of intravenous Cetriaxone or oral Azithromycin can also be tried.
I find this answer helpful
