I have been bright red breakthrough bleeding, very lite for about 3 weeks now. It comes and goes usually once a day, I m on Introvale and have been for a year and a half now. My pap smear was 4-5 weeks ago.I m curious as to what is going on. last year I did not have this problem on interval so I don t think it is the medication. My pap smear came back normal.

OBGYN, Maternal and Fetal Medicine 's  Response
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Irregular periods can be due to hormonal disturbances, endometrial changes or local lesions in the vaginal or cervix including cervical cancer.
If the pap smear is negative, then the cervical cancer is ruled out.
I will suggest you to get an endometrial biopsy to rule out any endometrial Pathology.
Hope you found the answer helpful .
Wishing you good health.
