I broke my left ankle last year June. I have a metal plate on the left & screws on the right sides. When they removed the stitches the wound opened. The right side has healed. I still have a small wound on the right, that is healing nicely. I have now developed an abscess about 5cm above the scar.Its very red, tender & sore. Is my body rejecting the metal? What treatment can I use? I have no medical aid/insurance.
