Suggest Treatment For Accidental Consumption Of Over Dosed Tylenol Tablets

My 3 year old grandchild ate about 30 chewable tylenol tablets she was taken to the E.R. and parents were told they had to wait four hrs to have the levels tested. They were told that the levels were at 58 and that they should take her home and watch her. Is this what they should do or take her somewhere else?

Hi...there can be cumulative effect too. If I were the paediatrician treating the kid, I would admit her and observe her for 24 hours for jaundice and also get an liver function testing done along with prothrombin time (PT). PT is very important for classification of toxicity and if it is prolonged she might be given a dose of Vitamin K injection too.
