Suggest Treatment For Acne On Face

Hi, I used to have an acne problem in my teens but it had totally disappeared since i turned about 20 and now at 26 I have been getting severe acne for the last three to four months. I was prescribed Benzac AC gel 2.5 pct and Sofradex two months back. I used it for a month as told as soon as the treatment stopped, the acne got worse. The doctor has now prescribed Benzac AC 5 pct for a month and Sofradex on lumps twice a day for 10 days. He has also asked me to take Doxt S for a month. It has been about 10 days but even a two hour delay in using Sofradex makes the lumps appear larger and after 10 days the lumps are still there. Is there anything else that I can use?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,

I can understand about your worry for acne on on your face. Your age and hormonal imbalance might be the responsible factors, and remember, stress, tension, sleeplessness, oily food, dandruff and drugs like steroids can also cause or exacerbate the acne lesions.

You consult dermatologist for firm diagnosis and perfect treatment.

I would like to suggest...
- oral antibiotics like azithromycine or minocycline in proper doses
- low dose of isotretinoin
- application of clindamycine or adapalene gel on the acne lesions at night
- cleanse the face with antiseptic face wash
- ketoconazole shampoo to eradicate dandruff
- please do not apply sofradex cream that may exacerbate the lesion as it contains steroid.

I hope this would be helpful to you.

Thanks.
