Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic
Your concern is acne and oily skin Or
seborrhea. Acne and seborrhea go hand in hand. Your treatment is quite right but probably it is not apt to the severity of acne. It is important to address active acne with appropriate oral as well as topical treatment.
I usually start my patients of oily skin and moderately severe to severe grade acne on Oral Retinoids. Retinoids have a multifacted role in acne. They are sebostatic, therefore reduce oil production as well; antiinflammatory as well as comedolytic.
Oral antibiotics are also useful for inflammatory acne. You are already taking
Azithromycin and I would suggest that you continue with it.
Oral Retinoids can be combined with Oral antibiotics, particularly Azithromycin for faster improvement.
Topical treatment is an important part in the overall treatment of acne and includes topical antibacterials like
clindamycin, nadifloxacin; topical
benzoyl peroxide and topical retinoids.
Cleansing is important in oily skin to remove excess oil. You may continue with the face wash that you are already using.
Salicylic acid based cleansers for face wash are suitable for oily skin. Salicylic acid inhibits oil production and deep cleanses the pores of excess oil.
I would suggest that you visit your
dermatologist. Your dermatologist after assessing may start you on Oral retinoids along with the treatment that you are already continuing.
