Suggest Treatment For Allergy Mediated Cough

I coughed very hard this morning and have been having allergy problems. When the coughing happened this morning, it seriously looked like a piece of tissue, blood and mucas around it, came up from my lungs. This happened to me a month ago once also.
Any ideas?

Hi. Allergic cough has a characteristic pattern. It is dry, usually associated with a wheeze and comes in bouts of 5-7 coughs in sequences. It may be associated with some tickly sensation or itching at the back of your throat.

In dry cough, due to the sheer force, it is quite common for some blood and mucus to come out along with some mucosal tissue. It doesn't appear that it came from within your lungs ( Coloured mucous like brown or green would be seen).

The cough may have also been due to some amount of acid reflux to your voice box. This condition is called as LPRD. It is different from gasrtic acidity and does not have the sypmtoms of chest burning and stomach pain. It is the cough that raises abdominal pressure and causes the acid to reflux. The reflux then starts a cough and the cycle continues.

You may benefit from an antiallergic medication and a good antacid for one or two weeks. However, you will need to have these findings confirmed by an ENT before the prescription of these medications.

Do let me know if you have any further questions.
