Hi! I was diagnosed with alopecia aereta 16 months ago. doc prescribed minoxidyl 3% and clobetasol propionate and salicylic acid to be applied twice daily. recovery was good.. in three months, the patch filled up.. doc asked me to continue the same for a year. now reduced to once daily. a new spot has been noted. what should be done?
You should continue applying the topical medicines and along with this consult a dermatologist who can give you intralesional kenacort (triamcinolone acetonide) injections every 3 weeks till hair regrowth starts. You can also take tablet methylprednisolone 1mg/kg bodywt twice weekly on consecutive days till the time the disease stabilizes.
