Suggest Treatment For Amnesia

Hi, All of a sudden my 80 year old granny is not recognising me? we live together . she was all normal a few mins back. She is calling out my name and when I went to her she thinks I am some stranger ! she is asking where is she and doesnt seem to relate her to the surroundings! what can be the reasons?

Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. She is suffering from dementia, possibly Alzheimers disease.
2. She will require evaluation and based on level of dementia, will require treatment.
3. There is no complete cure, but progression can be slowed down with anticholinergics like aricept or other drugs like namenda.
4. Additional behavioral modifications or medication maybe necessary. Caretaker support and family involvement is essential.
