Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Bleeding bright blood from rectum when having bowel movement. Had colonoscopy, identified fissures near anus (might be confusing terms here). Gotten worse. Fair amount of blood now, soaking through TP. Applying steroid/antibiotic, seems to exacerbate issue.
A fissure in anus due to anal sphincter spasm due to trauma or infection or constipation. Avoid spicy food and alcohol avoid smoking and caffeine drinks. Eat a high fiber diet, do regular exercise. Use diltiazem local muscle relaxant under your doctor guidance. Use syrup lactulose thirty ml after dinner for five days. If symptoms not improved need botulinum toxin injection locally or surgery by lateral sphincterotomy. Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
