My Husband suffers from severe anal burning itching & pain. He s seen several Kaiser experts (HaHa what a joke!?) They ve run every allergy test & told there s nothing wrong w/him that they can find?... One Doctor even asked when All his discomfort began? When he stated when I stopped drinking hard liquor & the Doctor replied Maybe you should think of starting up drinking again?!?! Can You Please Help...I am ready for a Divorce By the way, My Husband is NOT a HYPOCONDRIAC!!!!!!!!!!

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Interesting history and willing to divorce by you.
Not needed. Noted the history of your husband having anal burning, itching and pain. The commonest cause is intestinal infection in the form of entero-colitis and the mucus allowing some leakage to cause wetting and the symptoms you have mentioned. In addition his old habit of alcoholism might caused him deficiency of multivitamins and minerals which are necessary for good skin integrity. In addition he may have thread/pin worms adding to the problems.
The idea of going to Kaiser experts was wring, indeed.
I would advise him the following:
Get the stool tested for three consecutive days.
Get the routine blood tests, rule out diabetes.
A course of an antibiotic, metronidazole for 5 days should help him to tackle the infection.
Locally he has to have sitz bath at least twice a day, then to keep the area dry.
Apply liquid povidone iodine locally twice daily.
Supplements of multi-vitamin and mineral is very important.
Please get this done and I hope he will be normal and fit.
