General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
During periods hormones called prostaglandins are secreted. These cause contraction of uterine muscles to cause cramps in periods. The same prostaglandin also cause contraction of rectal muscles to cause pain and constipation in muscles. The delayed period after years (probably due to PCOD) has aggravated the problem. Pain medicine or tab Dysmen can give some relief. Consult a gynecologist for injectable treatment, if needful.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
