Suggest Treatment For Apraxia Of Speech

I have a grandson who is 9 and can t read. He does have autism and has been diagnosed with apraxia of speech. He also has been diagnosed with development delay due to having such large tonsils and they were removed when he was 4. Up until then, he wasn t getting sufficient oxygen when asleep which caused the development delay diagnosis. I have been unable to even talk with anyone as I am only the grandma and grandma s have absolutely no rights in the state of Utah where my grandson lives. Is there anything at all that I can do to help this little guy. He is getting help with reading and speech in the public school system but he is making no improvements.

Communication is the major problem in children with autism, i suggest few things that may help, let him explore more of gross motor play especially with other children. you had written that he has speech apraxia, apraxia is motor planning issue so giving him oral motor activities, candle blowing, bubble, ballon, whistle and etc., will help to overcome this problem.

THANKS
