Suggest Treatment For Arm Fracture

My grandmother broke her arm and 4 weeks after her skin and muscle on one arm seem to be fused together, the skin is way harder and a little darker on the bad arm, the other arm is fine. The skin on the bad arm seems to have no elasticity anymore and the muscle is hard.
Do you have any idea what this is and how this could be treated?
Thank you very much

Hi
Welcome to healthcaremagic
I have gone through your query and understand your concern.Your skin and muscles has hardened together due to healing leading to fibrosis. It will be gradually release after mobilisation excercises. First of all it has to be seen that you are having any fracture or not by seeing x ray affected arm. Mobilisation excercises are to be started after healing of fracture. You can discuss your doctor about it. Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then please don't hesitate to write to us. I will be happy to help you. Wishing you a good health. Take care.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement Dr. Dr. Naveen Kumar Sharma's  Response
Hello,
I have studied your case and I think your grandmother is developing swelling of the muscle. I would recommend you to show it to orhopaedic surgeon as early as possible.
If there is need of surgery than you should not delay this surgery. As if fracture is not fixed than it will cause more swelling and there is chances that it can cause failure of fracture union.
I hope this question will be helpful for you.Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks
