Suggest Treatment For Ascites With Fever And Pain

My husband went to the doctors and was found to have ascites , with fever and pain. They drained the fluid and the cytology report came back negative. Only showing white bloods cells. The CT Scan showed no other abnormalities except for the omentum. Liver and all other organs were fine. The fluid came back in one day. My husband was told after a biopsy of his omentum that there were cancer cells present. We do not know yet what type of cancer, but that it has probably been there for a year. It has been sent off for a further diagnosis. Very scared just wondering if all other organs are fine what could it be.

Dear- thanks for using our service. Ascites could be secondary to an infection or non infectious. Cancer is one of the causes of ascites , which is basically fluid in the abdomen. The treatment is sodium restriction or low salt in the diet, diuretics and fluid drainage if no response. Sometimes you can have a complicated ascites with infection and fever, that requires antibiotics, most of the time, intravenous.
I hope my answer will be helpful.
