ASTHMA :Airways hyperresponsiveness that is secondary to
inflammatory airways disease that results in recurrent or chronic episodes of WHEEZE, SHORTNESS of BREATH(SOB0,
CHEST TIGHTNESS &/or COUGH particularly at night or in the early morning ( your son is having all these symptoms including
hoarseness of voice , may be due to
laryngeal edema ( side effect of
prednisolone or inflammation of larynx).
Pollen , dust ( fine dusting powder) mist , molds ,pests ( cockroaches ) , fumes , smoking ( active and passive ) , sudden chance of temperature ( increase or decrease ) , as all these are predisposing factors which triggers asthmatic attack.
If possible avoid these .
When such patient visit my clinic I prescribe Montelukast+bambuterole tablet once or twice in day . dosage are 0.2 mg of / kg body weight of each tablet .
Hot coffee and steam inhalation provide instant relief as these acts as bronchodilators.
I never prescribe PREDNISOLONE my patient .This is only meant for serious cases .
