Hello.
Thank you for asking at HCM.
I went through your query and would like to make suggestions as follows:
1. I would agree with your doctor's advice of not giving her many antibiotics because -
a. Most of the infections in children including
bronchiolitis are viral (caused by virus) and antibiotics do not work on viruses.
b. Unnecessary and frequent use of antibiotics affects immune system adversely and may increase allergies.
c.
Asthma is a disease relater to allergies and immune system, it is not caused by infections, hence unless there is a bacterial infection associated, a child with asthma does not require antibiotics.
2. Were I treating her, I would suggest her
allergy testing. Avoiding the substances she may be allergic to is the best strategy for allergies.
3. For symptoms of asthma, she may require medications. I usually prescribe
montelukast and
levocetirizine for symptoms and
salbutamol inhaler for breathing difficulties and
wheezing.
4. Please keep her away from dusts, smokes and air pollution.
5. A balanced diet rich in vitamins & minerals will help her building a good immune system.
Hope above suggestions will be helpful to you and solves your query.
Should you have any further query, please feel free to ask at HCM.
Wish your daughter the best of the health.
Thank you & Regards.
