Suggest Treatment For Atrial Fibrillation

diagnosed with afib 3 years ago put on flecanide 50 mg for the next 3 years with no recurring afib irregularities. have taken all heart related tests, ecco, mri, catsacan stress test and blood workup to determine if amyloid is the problem. doctor took me off flecanide and put me on a betablocker to help heart functon. i am also on a bloodthinner coumadine, and the results have been satisfactory. my question for you is it possible that the flecanide could have done damage to my heart thereby possibly eliminating the amyloid theory. many thanks, ronald silverman

Hello Ronald!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

I would like to explain to you, that flecainide is generally well tolerated, and doesn't seem to be the cause for any possible amyloid disorders. On a theoretical and practical point of view, flacainide has not been accused of being the cause of such a complication. So relax!

Amyloid disorder can easily be examined by performing a skin or other soft tissue biopsy.

Hope to have been helpful to you. Greetings!
