Suggest Treatment For Back Pain Due To Slip Disc

Hi Doc, Iam a 38yr old from Mumbai. My problem with my back started a couple of month ago. When I visited a Ortho 2 months ago he said that I have a slip disc and so have to take complete bed rest for 4 weeks. After 5 weeks my pain in my right leg got so bad that it was difficult to walk even from the washroom to the bed. Then I saw a spine sergeon who suggested that I should go in for a surgery. The surgery was done on the !0th of August 2010 .Soon after the surgery I felt like the pain had almost disappeared and after 4 days of stay in the hospital I was discharged. After I went home I took the pain killers priscribed for about a week then I felt that since the pain is not much I decided to stop taking the pain killers. Two days I was fine .One morning I went to the washroom and when I bent sidewards slightly to the right to reach the jetspray when I got a catch like pain in my lower back on the right side. After that my leg has started paining again . I thought I did something wrong so I went back to my doc who checked me and told me that nothing is wrong. He asked me to start taking the pain killers again of another week. Now its been 2 days I still have pain but I am worried that when I stop the pain killers the pain might start again. I am also scared that I must have pressed some nerve that day and may be that might cause other problems. I am just being desperate I know. Iam just so fed up with all this pain from so many months now and even after the surgery if I have to go through pain what was the whole idea of having one. What do u think I should do ?Do u think my bending sideways that day created all the trouble or my stopping the pain killers made the pain come back. How long will I be like this.?A friend of my husband who went through the same problem says it will take almost a year to be completely out of pain.Is it true.?My sister-in -law too had the same problem but she was perfectly ok after her surgery.Doc its very important for me to get back to my routine .I feel depressed since I have to depend on my mother or husband for small things. Its been a while since I have even hugged my son properly. Please tell me ur opinion.
