Suggest Treatment For Bed Wetting Problem In A Adult
My father constantly urinates in bed at night without knowing it. He is 72 years old. Is this some sort of disease? He is perfectly aware of urinating during daytime but he doesn't know it at night. He urinates in bed without knowing about 2~3times per night.
Welcome to HCM and thank you for posting your query. I appreciate your concern for your father. Passing urine in bed without knowledge is urinary incontinence and requires to be investigated at your father's age. It may be a simple urinary infection which may be easily treated or it may be more serious illnesses like Prostatic hypertrophy/ cancer or neurological disorders like cerebral atherosclerosis, stroke, brain tumor or a neuropathy affecting bladder control, causing urinary incontinence. After investigations, if no correctable cause is found, there are medicines like Mirabegron (Myrbetriq), Alpha blockers and Anticholinergics which would help reduce the problem. I am available if you have more queries. Take Care Dr Noble Zachariah
