Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was treated when i was younger for bi-polor and have been of medication for about 3 or 4 years now. I am starting to get to the pioint that i need to be back on medication for my familly. I have a wife and a 2 year old son. money is very tight right now to the point i really cant even afford to see the doctor and pay for the meds. i remeber i was told about prozac when i was on meds because is was very cheap compare to what i was taking. after alot of research i have found a drug that might work for me called lexapro but was told that it is very pricey. also what is going to be the best and cheap way i can see a doctor and get back on medication.
It sounds like you are suffering quite a bit wit symptoms that keep you from enjoying life to the fullest and functioning at your best.
You don't say where you are, but I recommend that you go to a community mental health center (CMHC) near you. They have them even in rural areas in the States and they typically use a sliding scale fee. If you cannot go there, there is a website where you can do therapy online: betterhelp.com. The first week is free; after that there is some nominal weekly fee but I do not know what that is.
The medications you mentioned are not typically used for bipolar disorder, but for depression. If you really have bipolar disorder, both the medications you listed could potentiate manic symptoms or episodes. Whether or not you are on medications, ultimately, it comes down to using good coping skills to deal with life stressors and strong emotions that you will have to learn to implement.
Good luck to you and take care.
