Hi, last Saturday i was hit very hard just above my eye with a hockey ball. The pain is still awful now, however i have no bruising around where the ball actually hit. It's still swollen and i have a black eye...Should there be bruising? if so, why is there not? It took the black eye a good 4 days to come out and bruises do normally take a while to show with me.
Black eye is due to collection of.blood beneath overlying skin... It takes at least 2 weeks to resolve back to normal... Bruises are caused only if there's friction between the skin & injury element viz fall from bike on road ... But your case, as suggested from history is impact injury...where there's no friction.. Hence no bruise... But still due to impact of blow , vessel ruptures leading to collection of blood underneath skin & hence black eye... Which is self resolving...
