I have a toenail that turned black about 6 weeks ago. It dosnt hurt at all. I noticed about 3 days ago another toenail on the other foot has some black on it. It doesnt hurt either where it is black. But nails seems to be flaking where there are black. I also have a fingernail that has a dent in it at the cuticle.
Hi. As per your case history you are having fungal infection in nails called as onychomycosis. My treatment advice is - 1. Maintain good nail hygiene, trim them regularly. 2. Apply a mild antifungal lotion like clotrimazole lotion twice daily on affected nails. 3. Oral antifungal medications like fluconazole, itraconazole and terbinafine can be used only after consulting a dermatologist.
It takes around 12-14 weeks for complete recovery.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
