Suggest Treatment For Bleeding Caused Morsicatio Buccarum

my 2 yr old son has had a cold for the past 4 days. He's fever ranges from 100.0-102.1F. Last night he's cheeks were swollen and bleeding. It appears both sides of his mouth are bleeding. It almost appears as if he bit them by mistake however they look infected. Is there anything i can do for his mouth?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.

As per your complain it seems that your son is suffering from viral infection leading to cold and fever and swelling and bleeding from cheeks can be due to cheek biting and it appears to be more during illness due to anxiety and discomfort..
I would suggest you to consult a Pedodontist and get evaluated and in case if it is a chronic habit he can advise him to wear mouth guard so that it will prevent cheek bite and will prevent cheek bite in future..
As of now you can give him symptomatic treatment:
1. First of all you should put pressure using a sterile gauze over the bleeding area to stop bleeding..
2.Do cool compresses..
3.You can also give him tylenol for pain..
4. You can also apply a steroid ointment over the inflamed area after consulting with a pedodontist to reduce inflammation..
5.Give him soft and bland food..
