Suggest Treatment For Bleeding From Ear And Ear Pain
My 9 year old son is on medication due to his aching left ear and using otic drops which is ciprofloxacin dexamethasone for 2 days now. After putting 3 drops earlier,there s blood dripping out of his ears but he said it wasn t painful.Should i be alarmed or this is n0rmal?thanks
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history related to your son having pain in ear, taking antibiotics and otic ear drops and then started with bleeding from the ear without any pain. This is the classical history where the tympanic membrane ruptures due to loss of vitality or due to increased pressure from within and since the pressure releases the pain goes way. The rupture is an injury to the ear drum (tympanic membrane) hence the bleeding occurs, or is indicative of a typical infection with beta hemolytic streptococcus. He needs Amoxy-clav as an antibiotic of choice the dosages as per his Doctors decides and this is a prescription medicine. He shall be given additional decongestant and anti-inflammatory medicines too. Ear drops really do not help much. I hope this answer helps your son well as it helps all other patients.
