My entire life I have had this problem (I am now 25). I will feel hungry, but if I don't eat right away, my stomach becomes filled with gas and is extremely painful. Then I have to lie down on my side until the gas subsides in order to be able to eat. Once I have one of these "episodes," it takes a couple days for my stomach to become normal again. I have always been an athlete, I exercise regularly, and the only unhealthy thing I eat is a couple desserts or pizza every other week. Normally, I would just make sure I have a snack with me at all times, but recently I'm taking classes for graduate school that occur during prime meal times, and I have had to run out of the classroom to eat something in the hallway before my stomach starts getting gassy and painful. It's really affecting my life at the moment. My general doctor has never heard of such a thing, and brushed it off as one of my "quirks." Please help.
