Woke up this morning and used the toilet. There was stool with bright red blood in the toilet after bowel movement. The water in the toilet was reddish/pink. Blood only appears after sitting on toile.t I have no stomach ache and still have an appetite. I am also have normal digestion.
Bright red color stool could be indicative of bleeding from distal/terminal portion of GIT I.e. from large intestine to anus.
The causes could be piles, large bowel obstruction, ulcerative colitis, intussuception etc.
You may require thoroughly clinical examination with proctoscopy and colonoscopy to rule out any other lower GIT etiologies.
You may require antibiotics(quinolones-ofloxacin with antiprotozoals- metronidazole/ornidazole) with topical steroids and antihistamines to prevent bleeding if it is coming from anus otherwise treatment is mainly depend on the underlying cause.
