Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
2 year old daughter has pinkish coral colored stool mixed in with brick reddish brown colored stool... she had it before around a year old and was sick, but it was not blood... she has not eaten anything pink or with red dye. Dr s wondered if it was the probiotic she was on. she is not on it any longer and the pinkish tinge has reapeared almost a year later... its like the brick orange color except it is pink... just wondered if you had any ideas?
Hello I share your concern blood in stool in 2 years old child is a matter of worry It might be related to any lesion of the gastrointestinal tract or any bleeding disorders I would advise you for a battery of tests like CBC, liver function test, coagulation profile and an ultrasound or endoscopy if need be.
meanwhile keep a close watch on her stool and collect the specimen of stool if you find any blood or related color in stool and send it for testing for occult blood.
You can give her suppository if you find her constipated or passing hard stool. Hope you will find my response informative and helpful please feel free to ask for follow up Best wishes
