Suggest Treatment For Blood In The Stool

Had a tummy tuck 3 and a half weeks ago. I do not even know if it s related, but today I had a stool with a lot of blood. Very red. Very scary. I had a lot of pain before I used the restroom. Very painful Cramps hit me before I used the restroom. Over the years I have had a hemorrhoids on and off, but never had blood in my stool at all. I have never experienced this.

Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.

Blood in stool can occur due to many conditions like hemorrhoids, fissures, colitis, diverticulosis and malignancy.
In your case it could be due to either hemorrhoids or colitis.
Since it is associated with cramps colitis is most likely.
A stool test may be done to rule out C.diff infection.
A sigmoidoscopy test may also be done.
You may require a course of antibiotics if it is due to colitis.

I hope that answers your query.
