Suggest Treatment For Bradycardia After Pacemaker Implantation
Hi, My Mother had a pacemaker implanted 3 weeks ago. Her pulse rate was decreasing as low as 17. She is now having a slight increase in blood pressure, 150/80 being the highest. She is taking lisinopril and coreg. If her heart rate had been running low for weeks before pacemaker, could the pacemaker be causing her increase in blood pressure?
I understand your concern, and would explain that pacemaker implantation helps to maintain an acceptable heart rate in accordance with her everyday living activity. it does not primarily exert any exaggerated hypertensive effects, except for returning blood circulation near a normal age-matched physiological status. If high blood pressure persists, you need to consult with her attending physician, and discuss for a possible antihypertensive therapy.
Hope to have been helpful to you.Greetings! Dr. Iliri
