My son was exposed to possible mold and is having problems with taking a deep breath. He has seen a physician twice and they have given him an HHN and now are recommending nebulizer txs. He is afebrile and has no cough. Should there be a CXR or other type of DX/TX offered? Thank you for your consult.
Thanks for your question on HCM. I can understand your situation and problem. In my opinion you should consult him with pulmonologist and get done 1. Chest x ray 2. PFT (pulmonary function test) To rule out chest infection and bronchitis. Mold inhalation in susceptible individual can cause bronchitis. So PFT is needed to rule out this. PFT will also tell you about severity of the disease. And treatment is based on severity only. He may need inhaled bronchodilators via nebulizer. So consult pulmonologist and first diagnose him than start appropriate treatment.
