i have bronchiectasis and cough a lot but do not bring any mucus up. just lately i have felt in the evening i have been coughing more and have a feeling of liquid creeping up my chest that will not go and coughing last for many hours.please any suggestions - help!
Thanks for your question on HCM. Bronchiectesis is chronic ,structural disease of lung causing dilated bronchi. In this dilated bronchi, secretions tend to accumulate and cause infection and inflammation. These in turn cause more coughing and difficulty in breathing So treatment of bronchiectesis is antibiotic, mucolytics , cough expectorant and inhaled bronchodilators. Better to consult pulmonologist and get done chest x ray to rule out infection. Newer mucolytics and expectorant are N Acetyl Cystiene (NAC), ambroxol and bromhexine. You may need inhaled treatment also. So consult pulmonologist and discuss all these.
