Hi my 62yo brother in law is ill. He started with bronchitis 10 months ago followed by ?rib fractures. Then started with vertebrae compression fractures. Visited osteoporosis Clinic. Discovered severe osteoporosis with non-detectable vit D and low calcium. Further work up showed elevated gamma lamba labs. Sent to hematology/oncology MD. Bone scan normal, hyponatremia in 120 s, ?mult myeloma mentioned. Going for MRI of left humerusthis week. He had fluid 12oz drained from lung pleural space that came back benign. MD states so much arthritis, scarring and old fractures in bone it s hard to make conclusive diagnosis. Any ideas?/
Bronchitis is a chronic respiratory problem that can be controlled with proper antibiotics and steroids. Osteoporosis needs regular calcium and vitamin D3 supplements along with bisphosphonates.
