Suggest Treatment For Bruise And Swelling In Arm After An Injury

I had a bruise from hitting my arm against a steel pole-about 3 weeks ago. I noticed at that time a small bump underneath the bruise. Recently, I was moving into an apartment and that night I had a slight bruise in the same area and the bump is still there, it is slightly tender to the touch.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It will be of help if you kindly inform your age. In general, a bump may result from local accumulation fluid due to inflammation, which should go away in a few days with regular cold compression and limb elevation.

But, as there is a history of the previous injury, it may also occur due to malunion of cracked bones. You can get an X-ray done of that wound for confirmation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Tanmoy Roy, General & Family Physician
