Suggest Treatment For Burning And Irritation Of Throat

I am 35 weeks pregnant. Two nights ago my husband poured liquid plumber down the bathtub, and didn't think to open a window, turn on a fan, or even tell me. I was in the room across the hall when suddenly my throat started to burn, I started coughing and felt like I couldn't get a good breath, then the smell hit me and I hurried outside. I breathed the fresh air for a while before coming back in a turning on fans and opening windows. Two days later I am still coughing, and my voice is raspy. How could this have affected my baby?

Hi

Welcome to HealthcareMagic forum

Do not worry! This is not a serious issue and will not affect the fetus. After going through the history described by you, there seems to be some allergic reaction to the chemicals. The raspy voice could be due to the edema in the vocal cords secondary to coughing.

My suggestion to you, is to drink plenty of warm water and do steam inhalation. If the symptoms do not subside within a couple of days, consult your doctor.
