i get a burning sensation in my throat when i eat fruit? feels like i have been sick and throat is hot and burning afterwards but i havnt been sick. its only when i eat fruit. im not a regular fruit eater, kind of started for new years and now eat 2 peices at dinner every day but its killing my throat. ive been experimenting and i beleive so far oranges and kiwis are the main culprit, maybe grapes too. why is this? and how can i stop it? im trying be healthy. Also ive quit smoking this year too, i dont know if that makes a difference
This sounds that it could very likely be a food allergy. Kiwi is the more likely culprit as it is one of the more common food allergies. Orange would be less likely, but if you recently had an small allergic reaction to a fruit like Kiwi, then eating an acidic fruit like orange could make it worse. Citrus fruits also can cause non allergic reactions that could cause pain as well. I would recommend avoiding kiwi for now and potentially seeking an appointment with an allergist to test for additional food allergies.
