Suggest Treatment For Burning Sensation In The Anus

I'm having a problem with my anal area getting chafed and when I walk, it starts burning, and I get a little blood on the skin. Have had a colonoscopy recently and that's fine, and a digital anal exam, which was fine too. My family doctor prescribed an anti-fungal/cortisone combinatinon cream. She said it was yeast, due to an antibiotic I took. Its been 2 1/2 weeks now... shouldn't it be getting well, or is the chafing irritating it further? I'm 64 year old, and not on any hormones. Thanks!

Hello,

Some advices that I can give to you are:
-Use the hydrocortisone cream (1%) applied locally for no more than two weeks (to avoid skin damage).
-Cleanse gently. After bowel movements, clean the area with plain water or mild soap.
-Don't scratch.
-Wear cotton underwear and loose clothing.
-Avoid irritants.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
